Properties 4 Purpose

Regional Development Thesis
Chair: Dr. Sarah Moore

Winston Churchill said, “We first shape our buildings, and then our buildings shape us.” This highlights the deep connection between society and the built environment, and when applied to sustainability, it's clear the two are locked in a codependent circle. That truth in mind, this project aims to create a real estate strategy that enhances quality of life and reallocates private funds to the public sector, demonstrating the codependent relationship between sustainable design and societal well-being.

Architecture & Social Sustainability

Architecture Thesis: Society & the Built Environment
Chair: Professor Christopher Domin

In 2009, the American Community Survey showed record-high social inequality gaps in the US. This thesis explores how the link between society and the built environment can address the basic need for shelter while also benefiting charitable organizations. The project aims to demonstrate that strategic building design can reduce the social impact of new construction and extend sustainability to include social equity, not just energy savings.

Strategies of Business Management

Business Thesis: NTD Architecture
Chair: Dr. Steven Boive

This thesis analyzes the business operations, structure, and policies of the architectural firm NTD. The resulting detailed report evaluates the industry's structure, assesses the firm's resources and capabilities, and provides recommendations to improve its competitive position.

Community & Connection

Community and connection are very important to me, so I endeavor to challenge myself to a life of service and shared human experiences.

Sobriety Architect

In 2023, I initiated a volunteering endeavor at a rehabilitation facility in LA, where I devised and taught a course integrating architectural engineering principles into recovery concepts for building sobriety.

ALC

In June 2024, I embarked on a 575-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles in support of the AIDS LifeCycle Foundation's mission to combat AIDS and HIV.

Volleyball

Since 2016, I have played beach volleyball in association with Out Loud Sports.  Team activities are a powerful outlet for me to forge community and connections with others, while allowing me to indulge my competitive spirit.

Travel

I have loved to travel from a young age. When I was a child, my mother and I made it a goal to visit all 50 states.  Since that time, I have ventured beyond the US borders to explore Europe and Central America.
